Silverleaf, my Ratty Virgo is the world's worst stick in the mud. No no no no and no are all you get if you try to discuss like mature adults... So what I did was have tantrums. Quite a few and massive ones.
"I do everything for you and help you and let you get anything you like and run after yur backside all my life and you never have to lift a finger or go without and its not fair when I only want one thing and you turn round and say no you cant have it I never say no to you you get what you want why are you so special am I just a second class citizen in here or a servant or something like I dont have a life and wants and dreams and and " and BREATHE:D:D
Try it!
Lol!!! Urgh, HI is far too mature and has this irritating habit of staying extremely calm during arguments whereas I tend to react emotionally. And even more irritatingly, I can't use that otherwise excellent argument of yours because he does more work than me - he has a job (well at least he does until tomorrow), our savings are mostly really his because I've never been able to work for very long due to ill health, and he does a good proportion of the housework and pet care too.
I asked him yesterday why he was being mean. His reply, "Life's not fair." I told him that was a crap excuse to create more unfairness, and he countered that "Well it's not an excuse for you to have whatever you want."He really winds me up sometimes, but I'll remind him of that next time he starts eyeing up camera lenses (which definitely don't help reduce our food bill)!
Oh, I sooo remember those days! Bur eventually got tired of it all, had one last enormous silence which lasted for weeks, and I mean weeks! Until in the end he left me for some peroxide blonde floozie from across the pond (only lasted 6 weeks he he). I really wouldn't recommend going that far but today I get my own way all the time
Oh, and no, I didn't take him back....:p
Sparrer, that might indeed be going a bit far!Especially as he's the one with the money, lol!

love it
what works with my dh is sowing a seed in his head ie how useful/economical etc chickens are. Then backing off and staying quiet about it. Lol, he always gave in and I always got what I wanted
Well the seed is sown, but there's no way he'll bite. I expressed a desire to get ducks years ago, or ex-batts, and then basically gave up - he kept saying "When the garden's finished we'll think about it," and since the garden will NEVER be finished...(I like to think of it as "wildlife-friendly" more than "messy and uncared-for".)
I'm not giving up though. I keep mentioning what horrible lives battery chickens have to try to appeal to his sensitive side. I'm hoping to discover a sensitive side any day now.
Next plan of attack is classical conditioning - I'm going to wait til he's asleep and stroke his head gently while making chicken noises. Then after a while stop the chicken noises and start prodding him instead. He'll soon subconsciously think that chickens = good and no chickens = bad. :rotfl:

If I ever throw a paddy at the OH he switches off. I can actually see him doing it which makes me more cross. He is a stubborn git and I am only just learning how to deal with him without murdering him - and I have eyed the axe up on more than one occasion!!

Don't buy all those expensive pre made bottle or packet sauces; look at the basic ingredients and you can make a cheaper healthier version that is similar, without E numbers.0

Ceridwen, you wouldn't be jealous if you saw the state of it! Not been touched since I was last in making mudpies about 15 years ago.... Making myself feel rather old now at 27 :rotfl:
Im sure there is a rock garden underneath it somewhere, and a nice pathway somewhere..... When I can afford a skip to take all the trees, general rubbish people have threw in over the years and weeds and the old shed that fell down years ago, I might get to see what I have to work with
If anyone wants to lend a hand sorting it out, I will make dinner and supply plenty of refreshments :rotfl:Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -

Also I am loving the shampoo idea with bi carb - thanks for that - I have almost ran out of one bought for me for Xmas so was dreading buying more - looks like I don't have to!!!
!
I'd recommend anyone try it. Give it 2-3 weeks and see what you think - you may find that your hair takes a few washes to get used to it (mine was fine from the start to be honest). And let me know how it goes!
Maybe we should have a No Shampoo challenge?0 -

Well - we're in the process of trying to get specific LETS "work parties" system set up right now (ie in the local Lets scheme I am in) specifically for "big" jobs requiring several people and everyone interested would take part and earn Lets Credits for doing so. So - if you're in a Lets Scheme - you never know - peeps might be willing to consider the idea (with suitable refreshments provided of course:D).
Another thought - Landshare - as in maybe advertising yourself in that scheme as a garden-owner and finding a "garden mate" to share your garden with you and you both get it sorted out and they then share the produce from it after that? (ie produce of the food description that is....).0 -
That farm shop sounds good. I wish we had something like that near us. We have a couple of farm shops around but they are very expensive. They import the fruit and veg that is out of season, and then, when it is in season, we are growing our own anyway.
I would also love it if there was a 'scoop' shop here too. I know they still exist......you know, the ones where all the food is in big bins, and you just bag up as much as you need. Great if you just need a very small quantity of a particular thing.
There is something like that in Coventry market! There aren't that many things available but they have bins of dried fuit, nuts and some mainstream/branded cereals.0 -

We are also doing more surveys, clicks etc and using this money to buy rice, potatoes, noodles etc and fill up the store cupboard.
I absolutely love that idea for the lasagne. So simple.
I also turn my survey rewards into supermarket vouchers wherever possible and the Boots ones from Litmus into value toiletries. All helps.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

For sauces (apart from the basics curry sauce and basics sweet and sour), I use the really cheap cup a soup (including the approved food ones) and thicken if necessary with a little cornflour. One sachet makes enought sauce for chicken or fish for 3-4.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0
