Pay for updates on apps on iphone4

my boyfriend has purchased some apps and recently its saing that 8 of his apps (including free ones) needs updates however when he goes to update them, its trying to charge him, is this right? i thought once you had bought the app that was it or am i wrong?:cool:

I don't think updates are charged but you will have to provide the user/pass to access the store. Why do you think there is a charge? have you seen one?

its trying to charge something as when he goes to update it says something about payment not being able to be made (cant remember exact words will post later) the card he has linked to the apps is his other account which doesnt have any money in, he's updated free apps before and nothing like this has come up

Are you sure he's officially purchased the apps from the App store in the first place? I know if you download apps from Installous and then try to update them via the App store you will get charged.

dont even know what installous is!!! yes he legitimatly purchased them from the app store the free ones that need updating are 2 games an ebay one a facebook one the the ones he's paid for are 2 aviation ones which i suspect are the ones which are trying to be charged for as i cant see why ebay etc would charge if they were free in the first place, when he gets back in later i will update with what it says when he tries to update


his phone isnt 'jailbroken' either

IS he trying to update them on his phone? If you go into iTunes on your PC/mac and update the apps there it might be easier.

All app updates are free, you shouldn't be getting charged for them

yes he is, he'll be in shortly so will get him do it via itunes,

I used to be able to update apps on the pc. Now I can't find where to do it and can only do it on the phone which takes ages. Any advice?

I've not tried recently, but I agree the new layout in Itunes is abominable!
