Speedo on Nissan Micra

Options
My Daughter rang the other day to tell me that the speedo on her 2001 K11 Nissan Micra wasn't working properly it keeps flicking back to 0 while she is driving along.

Any clues as to what would cause this? TheHaynes manual I borrowed from the library says: models from 1998 onwards are fitted with an electronic speedometer, wired to the vehicle speed sensor attached to the speedometer drive pinion.

If I replaced the speed sensor would this be likely to cure the problem?

thanks in advance for any help/advice

Faulty dash or speedo head, Fault speed pickup sensor or a wiring fault between them.

Another issue is check the battery voltage. Fluctuations in voltage can play havoc with electronic speedo's.
