quick question - travelling with baby

Hi,
I posted a while back about travelling with LO (who'll be 12 weeks when we go this week). We're coming over from Holland to visit family in the UK and will be going with Easyjet.

I've read all the small print on the easyjet website, but can't seem to find any hard and fast rules about bringing a pram/buggy.
This is the one we've got:
http://dbsthlm.blogspot.com/2008/11/one-tree-hill-urban-jungle.html

After a bit of googling I think that it will be no problem and free for us to take it right up to the plane and then give it to the staff there to put in the hold. Obviously it'll be in 2 bits and we've got a sort of big rucksack cover to put the carrycot bit in.
Does anyone have any recent experience of easyjet and know if this will be alright? I really don't want to get charged extra at the airport....

The other question I had was that we've not bought a seat for LO, as with easyjet they say that he can go on one of our laps. There's something about an infant seatbelt extension.... I was just curious how this worked (sorry can't find anything from googling). I guess it's something they provide??
Thanks!

I don't know about the buggy, but they provide the infant belts (you may need to ask for it once on board). It looks like a normal belt but orange with a loop on so you can thread it through your own seat belt:)

You may have seen them already, they use it when demonstrating emergency procedures.

I would give Easyjet a ring to be sure about the pram. I know the stroller types are fine to keep up until the gate but that looks significantly bigger than a stroller so might cause a problem? It's also worth noting that these companies are notorious for damaging prams so a cheap holiday buggy may be better than using the one you usually use at home?

Yes, these are exactly my worries. I was all for getting a stroller type thing - as I find the pram quite bulky (also for on public transport here). We were kindly given it second-hand. But OH has convinced me we don't need to buy another and can manage with what we've got - which is very MSE after all.....

I would ring the airline then to be sure, last thing you want is to get to the airport on the day of your travel and they want to either charge you £££'s excess baggage or that they make you check in your pram straight away.
When I've travelled with babies although you keep the stroller until the gate - at the other end you have to get it from baggage reclaim so might be worth getting a sling or something.

I would definitely agree with this - I was on an Easyjet flight from Paris CDG to Luton last year and a couple were really annoyed when they picked their baby's puschair off the carousel, it was marked and dented.

I always (from the time my DD was about 3 months old) had an umbrella-type stroller specifically for use on flights.

You typically don't have to use a seatbelt for the baby, unless it is specific to Easyjet

You are better off using the infant belt for your little one SM as you cannot use a rear facing baby seat on any plane and getting a forward facing one that will actually fit in the seats of most short haul flights is very hard work. :o. If you will be traveling a lot with baby the britax prince seats will fit in easy jet Thomas cook and Thomson flights no problem and they are often on special offer too. :). Can you ask your relatives in the uk to maybe have a look in local charity shops for a suitable stroller as they are usually dirt cheap and most often barely used as were donated by idiots like me who buy things that they really should have researched better :o
