Oh for heaven's sake... I do NOT expect someone else to sort it out...I am simply seeking assistance to try and avoid a £400 repair bill. Bear in mind this website is entitled 'money saving expert'.
Congratulations on your ability to file every receipt and warranty so efficiently that you never lose a thing. Now please move to another thread....0 -

I really think you are over reacting to Phil99's post here. Us oldies are asked to be nice to newbies, we try our best but sometimes one comes along that makes it very hard. specially when no offence is intended and the asker is too sensitive. You are heading that way. Just calm down and ring your cc company and speak nicely to them. Or you will get absolutely nowhere, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
It's just irritating to join a new forum and be berated by some cyber idiot who offered absolutely no help, just insult. Unlike your goodself who was most helpful. If that is Phill99 being 'nice' to a newbie then I have a misunderstanding of the adjective 'nice' !0

Just because phill99's response isn't what you wanted to hear doesn't mean that they aren't helping you. Throwing cheap insults about spell checking and "banning" people from threads that you start don't help your cause.
Personally I don't think you'll get anywhere chasing up the protection offered under the credit agreement on your card. The companies you want to deal with haven't gone under, your warranty still stands, but you don't have proof of that fact. The CC company would probably want the same proof of what you bought with the card before they'd engage in any refunds or repairs, the same as the manufacturer. You can try, but I wouldn't hold out hope - take a look at this for detail on what the protection provides: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases.0
