Is anyone aware of a scart plug where the cable emerges straight from the plug? Or even the other direction? I've tried taking off the plastic shroud, but it won't fit back reversed. Of course I could use the scart without the shroud but it looks scruffy as it's on show.

But don't buy from Maplin that price is ridiculous.
I bought 3 x 0.75m flat Scart leads on ebay for less
than half that - and they are gold plated0
