Never had a default. I believe this is partly due to 'the people on the ground' but also the fact that those that benefit realise that they can ask for further help and that most money is re-invested in others in a similar situation
I'm on my 15th loan and I've never had a default yet0 -
I am not noted for being charitable but nevertheless, had considered world vision on a number of occasions. This post has helped to convince me to keep my money in my own pocket.
Kiva looks interesting though im quite surprised that they have partners in the USA,the richest country in the world !
Maybe kiva needs a UK partner?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
I cancelled my direct debit, and wrote to them after I received their demand for more money. However it was only when the direct debit failed that I got any kind of response from them.x x x0

Don't often post but with regard to World Vision we helped support a child through them for about 9 years then they decided to no longer support anyone in Cambodia. We cancelled with them and saved an amount that we then 'invested' in Kiva - www.kiva.org - what a wonderful organisation and your money keeps revolving and getting spent on various projects
We had a very similar experience with World Vision, felt we were really connecting with our sponsor family and their village and then WV moved on and we were cut off and all but told our money would be redistributed. We decided then to only offer sponsorship through small, more individual charities, where you actually feel your money (or most of it ) gets to the place you want it to go to.
I have no objection that big bosses of big charities get big payments, after all once it's the size of millions its a business more than a charity.
At the moment we support Kiva and Forever Angels
