fitted wardrobes

Last week I emailed DM Design Kitchen & Bedroom to arrange a survey for a fitted wardrobe in my bedroom. A sales rep phoned me back within 5 mins to arrange a survey. A date and time were agreed and I was told that samples etc would be left with me & hopefully I would decide to use their company to do the work, no pressure or hard sell. I was then asked whether my wife would be there. I explained that she would be working so she wouldn't be there. I was then given some guff about double glazing mis-selling and a Watchdog investigation and that she had to be there. When I said again that she wouldn't I was told that they wouldn't come out. Why? I only wanted a price. What if I was single, do they only work for couples? My suspicion is that the no pressure survey would turn into a hard sell in which the line "I'll have to run this by my wife when she gets home" could not be used. I would avoid this company as they don't sound like a professional outfit.

Had the same with Everest, would not quote without the wife present! Luckily it meant we didn't get endless phonecalls and 'discounts'.0

We had A DM Design salesmen out a few years ago. I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole - although it may have been just the particular salesman and their prices which were awful.
The story:
I (the woman) asked questions, he addressed his answers to my other half (the man). When he finally came up with a quote for what we wanted he said it was £xx per month and wouldn't give a total cost. I had to drag out of him that the monthly cost was over 15 years - or was it 25, I forget - longer than our mortgage term at the time, anyway! When I asked what the APR was on that he said it was awfully complicated and again tried to address his answers to my OH. I didn't point out that I was writing up my PhD in applied maths at the time and OH has no confidence with numbers, I just asked him to leave. I always meant to complain to the company but by the time I'd calmed down enough to be polite I couldn't be bothered !:o
So personally I would take their refusal to come out unless your wife is there as a welcome reprieve!0 -
What would happen if you were single?0
