Fridge problem - thermostat? (Hotpoint RL150)

Greetings all.
We are having a problem with our Hotpoint RL150 at the moment, it keeps freezing up inside... I recently cleared the frost and ice off the internal back wall and it was about an inch thick! (severl hours later and it has started to ice up again across the back wall)
Two things have changed recently with the fridge. Firstly, it has been moved to a new location while we have new kitchen units fitted and secondly, I have swapped the door around so it opens from the other side. However, I am not sure either of these caused the problem.... the fridge is currently standing in the middle of our dining room so there is no air circulation problem, and I have checked the seals around the doors and can see no issue.
The black motor (?) at the rear of the device is extremely hot, and appears to be running all the time.
Could this be a thermostat problem? If so, how easy are they to replace? (in fact, I suppose a better question would be "where are they located?!" I assume there are behind the temperature dial within the firdge interior itself?)
I can get a replacement thermostat for around £10-£15, so if there is a reasonable chance this might fix the problem AND it is relatively easy to replace then I may as well have a go to see if this sorts it, before exploring other repair / replacement options.
Thanks in advance for your advice....
