Do you mean the pre-paid credit cards? You top them up with money, either over the phone or in certain shops and then can use them to make payments - eg if you wanted to buy things online but had poor credit and couldn't get a normal credit card. Not sure about the card being with someone else though as you would keep the card yourself. I believe they charge fees as well instead of interest so not great value for money.0

You could get a pre-paid cards,I have a cashplus one.Its easy to top up and I use it online.I get charged 1.00 everytime I use it though or a monthly fee.
There is also a good budget card via the post office, you need a form and lots of id.You can pay money in whenever but you can only use the money to pay a bill,i.e cat tax etc.
Hope this helps.0 -
Shops like Asda do gift cards. Whoever purchases it can place up to £500 onto it. The recipient then uses it at the cashpoint to pay for their shopping. They get advised on their reciept how much is left and this can be topped up.0

I have an AA spend and earn pre-paid credit card. You can top it up for free by way of a bac transfer or you can top-up by paypoint but there is a charge with that. The card has no fees for transactions.0
