method statement?

Hi, OH has been asked to give a method statement for a catering job. Is this something we could do ourselves or are we best of getting someone to do it for us and if so how much might it cost - ball park, as it is not a huge job.

Have you tried Google ...lots of examples when I did a quick search ....typed in " Catering method statement"

I have never had to do one, but Google seems to produce various free templates and examples - it might be worth your while trudging through them to see what's expected/needed.

thanks so much for the quick replies. I did see some on google, I am just a bit worried about where I would stand as the author if something did go wrong. We have never had a problem but you never know. Also they told us this on Fri and they want it by weds:eek: dont want to spend ages doing it and then its not up to scratch!

A template from t'internet may be sufficient as a starting point to give you an idea of required/expected content and format. It obviously needs to be written to the specific task that is being undertaken and your OH is best placed to complete the details as he will do the job. However, if this is the first time that you have had to delve into the world of H&S then it would be advisable to take some professional advice. Don't forget that Risk Assessments are also a fundamental part of a safe system of work and should be included. These can form part of the method statement or be entirely separate documents.
