I'm looking to buy a new camera as an upgrade from a Sony compact camera.
I had initially decided on a Nikon D3100 but have now been drawn to the superzoom cameras due to their smaller size and longer range without having to buy and change lenses.
The problem I have is there's so many to pick from I can't decide, I am going back and forward between the Nikon P500 and the Canon SX30 and have now come across the Fujifilm HS10.
If anyone has good advice about these or other options I'd like to hear them, main use will be for holidays, theme parks, kids football and general family use although I am keen on full hd videos too. Oh and budget is approx £300 but would go to £400 max.

I have the SX30 and to be honest am not too keen on it. Yes it has an amazing zoom range however you will need a tripod if you intend to use it at it's maximum zoom range. Lots of features that I probably won't use (animal face recognition for instance) and doesn't shoot in raw.0

Thanks, I've spent many hours on there this week already, almost certain I will buy the Nikon but just going to read a bit more before I do !0 -
I recently bought the Fujifilm HS20 (see my thread here) and its brilliant. Its an upgrade on the HS10 with faster processing times and the photo quality is just breathtaking. I'm using 2500mah AA eneloop batteries and get at least 400 shots on a single set. HD video quality is also amazing.
