we have a p.c. that we need to find a driver for

we think we've found that the motherboard is an asus, but can't find any more than that

we are trying to find the driver for the motherboards built in sound device

What does it say on the motherboard itself ?

As above, take the side off and the motherboard make & model will be in plain view.
You may also want to check the revision number of the board as well to ensure you get the right drivers.
