Carers Allowance ending

What do you live off? Being in need of a carer does suggest that you're not well enough to work. If you're not well enough to work, you should be entitled to benefits.
Sorry, I am still new to these forum type things.
I perhaps should have explained a bit better, I dont get any benefits from the DWP, as since being injured in the Falklands War I only receive a War Pension and its associated disablement allowance (Constant Attendance Allowance) paid by the Veterans Agency (SPVA).

If the prices are to high to pay for a carer via SS like more than £7 an hour then I would advertise yourself. Going by my company, they charge £18 an hour per carer but we only get £6.13 out of that plus 14p per mile. Total rip off.
Wish you luck..0 -

Thats why I suggested finding his own carer but paying for it himself because not many people will do 35 hours per week for carers allowance unless it a labour of love to a close family memeber or partner.0 -

If someone did apply for the CA, could Andrew then "top up" their money so they get a reasonable hourly rate? Or do the rules say you can't get CA if you're also being paid for caring?
My parents have a combination of private carers and agency ones. The private ones charge £10/hour. The agency ones obviously have to be more to cover all the admin costs. Pay rates will vary, depending on which part of the country you live in.
Andrew - I hope you don't have to wait too long for SS to get out to you. Do you have any support from any Forces charities? My parents found SSAFA very helpful - with practical form-filling as well as emotional support.0 -
Also worth contacting SSAFA as they may well have help for you that would not be available to others.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0
