Virgin Media phone issues

Hi all
I am having some issues with Virgin Media ref the mother in law's phone bill.
She is getting on a bit and hard of hearing so she was getting monthly phone bills averageing £43.00 only phone no media.
She stops with us, some weekends and I rang Virgin on thier 0845 number ending in 1111,the reason to query the costs reply was that its in the contract she has to pay (yes we know) all payments were on direct debit. So looked at other suppliers and have gone to BT £17.00 a month cheaper straight away, phone swithed over near end of March now we have two bills that they say have to be paid.Including late payment charge £10.00 this is after ringing the 0845 number again on two occasions and asking why the charges are stil being made. Two different replies from the VM people you have to put her on the phone ;we have the password: Now she has been rang from a 0151 number saying she must pay this is after asking them to put all contact through her daughter my wife as Mother in Law is 85 years and quite hard of hearing.
I have sent a email to VM press dept and copy BBC watch dog, after getting nowhere with the operators on thier phone line.
Due to the fact she is now getting called from this 0151 number has anyone any other suggestions as I do feel that they are just after the cash, and havent been truthfull on the phone.
Part of the charge we were told since going to BT is for the TV service she has not had any TV service since 2007/2008 box removed by someone from NTL or Virgin going back they are looking for approx £52.00.so far.
Any suggestions would be nice.Realy do think the customer service is poor.
