nintendo ds

I am going to finish my christmas shopping tonight. Both my daughters want nintendo ds which I cant afford. I can afford the ones that have been traded back into the Game store, which would mean they were second hand. Do you think its acceptable to buy them second hand nintendo ds for xmas. I thougt I could just put them into little bags and wrap them up. More of a surprise that way. Any suggestions???
They took my signature away!!!!

  • It certainly is! It's still the same item and they'll love them anyway.

My kids would be happy. They very often find stuff on ebay for themselves instead of wasteful new shop prices.

I bought my wee boy a second hand gameboy advance from Game for £30 last Xmas! You would never have known it was second hand:) It looked great and worked great until his wee brother got a hold of it and lost it outside!!!! He loved it and didn't know any difference:)

Personally I think they'll hardly notice,if at all!The packaging and other gumph is soon chucked to one side by kids.I'd say it was a great idea~in a bag tied with ribbon...or a personalised box?How old are they?
If anything, the way kids are with fads and trends it's far more sensible to buy second hand....xxxx

    Absolutely fine.They won't care.
  • Yep, I've bought a 2nd hand DS for my DD who is 12. She thinks it is a great idea because she Knows I couldn't afford it any other way as she is going skiing with school in Feb. I can't afford the game she wants either but have managed to get an older game, again 2nd hand and will get her the other game for her birthday. I think its a good lesson in good money management for kids and its also a way of reusing stuff that may otherwise be thrown away. I have also heard that the new DS Lite has weaker hinges and many have broken in the hands of less than careful kids !

Most of my kids xmas presents are 2nd hand, and they dont care, because when you think about it the minute they have unwrapped them, they become 2nd hand anyway.

My kids think santa goes to car boots and uses ebay!!!LOL

  • Theres nothing wrong with that at all but if you do byuy a second hand one ask to test it out with a game like Nintendogs as I got my son a 2nd hand one b4 & the microphone didnt work....couldnt understand why we couldnt make that dog sit!!!!! Its one of those annoying faults you wouldnt think to check!! Happy hunting xx

Perfectly fine. They'll never need to know and probably wouldn't care.

  • Perfectly fine, and great suggestions about personalised boxes. My daughter got one for christmas last year we had to open it to charge it up for her (and test :rotfl: )anyway !!

On a side note I got one yesterday for oh neice for £39.97 in Currys (Old style silver one - same as daughters £90 last year) May be worth calling your local store?
