I would get the door done if you can, otherwise you are spending more than you need on heating, risking your security & risking more damage to your kitchen. Its a false economy to leave it as is & dangerous I reckon.

Thanks Sharon, I know that no one can really say what to do, that I have to decide for myself, but having other opinions at the moment helps so much.

Bad news - my water is about to go up to £35 per month.... It would've been even more, but I'm applying to go back onto the vulnerable groups tariff which is £28 a month, then I have to pay back arrears that have incurred to a large bill.
I'll have to adjust my CCS plan now, as if I put in the new water rate I'll not qualify for the DMP. Grrrr.
