Anyone who has done a DMP?

Hi Madduck.
There's no mention of the car tax insurance etc as they were all on another page with CCCS, and they are pretty much fixed or might possibly increase.
My gas is very steep as is my electric (72 amd 52.50 respectively). While changing to another provider is probably going to give me a better deal than the company I'm with I'm pretty sure any savings will be swallowed by the fact that prices have shot up so much anyway. As the difference is only likely to be pennies I'm saving that task for when I've sorted out how to deal with the debts.
The door has needed replacing since we moved in in 2000 and it's gradually got worse. The door is badly warped, as is the frame. I have had several people look at it for me, including a neighbour who fits double glazing and they all say the same - the door is beyond repair and probably never fitted properly in the first place.
If I get my head at the right angle I can actually see out between the door and frame when the door is closed - and when it rains I have to mop up puddles that have been known to extend to the other end of the room with just one nights rain!
Mostly I manage with one of those super absorbant pet towels placed under the door mat - but that doesn't keep the cold out nor my heating in. We haven't quite got to the point where it's so bad the snow piles up inside mind!
As I type this I am sat in the room next to the kitchen and I can feel the breeze from the gap on my feet. While a big bit of me doesn't want to add to the debt, another part of me is saying that by leaving the door as it is I might as well be burning £5 notes to keep us warm.
I'm really so gratefull to everyone who has taken time to respond to this thread - you are the only people I have to talk to about these things. The only three close friends I have are going through so much themselves at the moment I can't possibly ask their advice/opinions. Mostly I'm happy being a single mum, but it's when I've tough decisions to make that I struggle - it helps so much to have other opinions.

Just a brief update (for a change!)
Emailed Payplan re the call I was waiting in for. Had an email late afternoon saying the agent had double booked and to reschedule. Problem is I'm not home without the children in earshot for another week now. I'd really hoped to have a think about my options this weekend.
I'm lucky that I may have options I know - but I'm so useless and making decisions at the moment...January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)

Hi kazon
hope you are ok
please dont get down about all of this..
i know its hard and life is s*hite at times but it will eventually get easier
did they ring you back bout the mortgage?'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Hi Jillie, thanks for replying and the encouragement.
They didn't get back to me today until I'd emailed to ask if there was a problem, and then it was only to say sorry for missing the appointment & they'll reschedule.
I'm feeling really rotten and confused today. Part of me wants to be free of this constant juggling and crossing fingers that everything will be payed, but the other part worries about how I'll cope with unexpected expenses if they crop up before I have an emergency fund stashed, or if prices of things go up and I can't stick to the DMP etc.
I wish I could talk to friends or family, but my family are always sure I'll work something out, and my friends have just been through traumas of their own.
I'm also unsure as to whether the companies will accept me going onto a DMP because at the current rate I can afford I'll be 72 by the time I pay them off, lol.
I know that it isn't a true picture as once the boys have grown up I'll be able to plough more money in, but it's still a daunting prospect to be so skint for so long!
Now I've got the signatures visible again I can see yours Jillie - you've done so well! £1.5k down allready! Well doneJanuary '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)

thhanks! its not been easy though!1
for the past 6 weeks DH has been sick from work, unfortunately this meant he only got statutory sick pay at £70 per week so i've not been abel to pay this months paymnet to CCCS and prob next months as well! blood presure i ky high aswell which doesnt help
and then the car decided to pack in on mon! ceiling onkitchen gave way to waterfall on wed and the shower will only produce cold water!! and i havent a spare penny to sort any of it out.. well hopefully insurance will pay for the ceiling!! so my sig will stay at £1500 paid for quit a while but i'm positive that next year will be a better one! afterall i dont hink it can really get any worse!
ok my rant is over!!
seriously any time you want a chat and i'm online just PM me we can support each other!'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Thanks Jillie, that would be lovely!
What bloomin awfull luck you've had lately though - hopefully you're getting it all now so you can have a much better new year. That's just the sort of thing that would likely happen to me!
The lady I spoke to on the phone about the DMP said that I could keep one card back if it had a zero balance to use in extreme emergencies if it made me feel better, so I suppose it wouldn't be too bad. How I'd then pay that back heaven only knows!January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)

My DS has just got in so I'm going to go and have a chat with him now, make sure he's behaved himself while out. It's so hard to let go when they grow up...January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)
