Nightmare...allergic to new sofas

I suffer with allergies to dust/dust mite & very recently bought 2 material sofas from Homebase.
Unfortunatly, they are major dust collectors & because of this I'm really suffering allergy wise. It dosen't seem to matter how many times I hoover it, my eyes are getting really sore & I'm constantly sneezing. I do take Priton & have never had a problem like this before.
Can anyone recommend any products or whether I could even return the sofas & exchange for may faux leather ones?

I don't want to be a scaremonger but are you sure it is your allergy. I say this because there was a problem with furniture made in China which had little sachets inside to prevent mould or something like that and it caused a lot of health problems up and down the country. Check it out!0

Brand68...how do you check for these little sachets?
ROY47...I do suffer with allergies all year round, but have never had this problem. I take piriton everyday & inhalers for my asthma & I'm generally fine.
The sofa I had before this one was leather & it didn't cause me a problem. However, I have had material sofas before & still never suffered any problems. I can only put the new allergy issues down to the new sofas.
I am thinking about contacting Homebase as I haven't had these sofas that long (not even a month). I'm now wishing I'd just kept my old leather ones.0 -
The poisonous Chinese leather sofas were on sale at Homebase and Argos.
It may be that your allergy is worse now than it was when you previously had fabric covered sofas, also as your Homebase sofas are brand new the fabric will be shedding a lot of invisible to the eye fluff, and the 'finish' on the fabric may be giving off fumes which you can't smell but are affecting you, especially if the fabric is a cheap one.
You could talk to Homebase about the problem, but they may not necessarily be sympathetic - unless they've had dozens of complaints about this model of sofa..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
I have contacted Homebase & I'm now waiting for the collection department to telephone me.
The customer service didn't say they'd had loads of these sofas returned, but they were quite willing to accept a return on them.0 -
The sachets are usually inside the sofa and you would have to remove the fabric underneath. It mainly affected leather sofas more than fabric, I hope you get it sorted without too much strife. Good Luck!0
