Dent repair - insurance or not?
Seems some local disaffected youths kicked seven bells out of some cars parked on the street last night
Can't decide whether to go through insurance (with £300 excess) or not. Car is 2003 Focus in great nick which we will keep until it dies and the front wing will need fixing as the paint is damaged:

Any ideas is this is do-able for less than the excess plus an allowance for premium increase if I claim?
There's a much smaller dent on the rear quarter that should be OK with one of the mobile paintless jobbies.
Seems a group of lads was thrown out of the local pub a few minutes before a neighbour heard a noise and saw the kicking another car down the road. Hopefully we have them on cctv......
Thanks

To be honest I'd be tempted to replace the wing with a 2nd hand one of the same colour. you can get them for about £20 and they are very easy to fit.

Or yoiu could get a brand new (pattern) one:

then the cost of getting it painted...
I replaced the front wing on my car with one of the same colour. I think I paid £15 and it was local ish too.0 -

Sorry, but seeing as the paint is cracked anyway, a "paintless" repair is out of the question. A smart repair is for small dinks, of about one or two centimeters wide, not six inches.
Either what Harvey has suggested or that a new wing and paint would still cost less than the excess and the increased premiums for the next three to five years. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Wouldn't bother with the insurance. DD got a similar sort of dent in a wing repaired for £200 cash at a local bodywork shop. Bet you could negotiate some sort of deal where they do the small dent as well for little extra as they'll have to prepare the paint for the main dent anyway.
