Moving in to a house next week and it needs new carpets in 3 bedrooms. Where is the best place to buy? I want decent carpets, but don't want to pay the earth.

Be careful when looking at high street names, c****tR*****t for instance look really cheap (especially on their 60% off days) but charge a LOT for underlay, gripper, fitting, delivery etc etc and you can end up with a low cost carpet costing a lot more than you expected!
Try some local independants as they often throw in fitting and measuring free and ask about the weight of the carpet not just the name. So if it is a Wilton, what weight? The heavier the carpet the more the threads per inch there are and so you'll get better wear on the carpet. A cheap Wilton for instance has the name but won't have the wear.
Feltback carpets don't need underlay and gripper, so you can save money on those in bedrooms etc.0 -

Nice hard wearing ones in catalogues ..... pay it up and free delivery. You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -

They're actually quite nice in bedrooms - cushioned enough to be comfortable in bare feet, but not too expensive, so you don't feel you have to hang on to them for years to get your money's worth. Also no chance of a kid accidentally pulling up the carpet and cutting themselves on the gripper.0 -
