It's not a surprise that they do it, but the extent to which insurers try to fleece customers does amaze me. Daughter had a renewal notice this week (police officer, young driver, 1 accident before current policy, no convictions, protected NCD) for £795 from her current insurer. Can't remember last year's price but this was a lot more.

A quick shop around (ignoring those that pare the benefits to the bone), loads of companies quoting £350-400, incuding courtesy car, NCD protection, legal, personal accident, etc.

Anyone who renews automatically needs their brains testing.

On a more positive note, asked Churchill how much to add wife to my insurance on renewal -- £22 less!
