Is it rare to get statutory redundancy?

I've been reading through this board for a while, and most people seem to be getting big pay outs, Well its my turn to go down this road, I am only entitled to statutory and by the talk of the boss we are damn lucky to be getting this, It works out at slightly over a months pay, its certainly nothing worthwhile for 5 years work.

I believe that statutory only is very common in the private sector. I've been in a redundancy situation 3 times, twice in the public sector which paid an enhanced package and once in the private sector which was statutory only.0

I'm starting to think working in the private sector is a mugs game.0

It depends on where you work - not uncommon in private sector and happens in some of the public sector too such as local authorities. Varies a lot in public sector - our contracts only give us 1 week but we're being offered 1 month per year but soon we all have to sign new contracts to make it statutory in future.
Sorry to hear about your redundancy and good luck job hunting.0
