King charles....worried SM?

Hi just wondering if anyone has any experience with king charles?
We have re-homed a female aged 5years who we were told was abit touchy when her ears where touched. We took her to the groomers, she had a full pamper session including the anal glands and she asked me to get her to the vet as she felt the dog was shaking her head too much. This carried on for a full day, the vet saw her and said her ears looked perfectly healthy...
The other week my son touched her around her ears and she went to bite him...
The tonight ever time she has started chewing a dry dog biscuit she's been yelping out, my husband has had a look in her mouth and cannot see anything wrong with it...
So I've done a search on the internet tonight and she ticks some of the boxes for SM, Im really worried, she scoots her bum on the floor for no good reason, she yelps at times when you touch her for no apparent good reason? She hates around her ears being touched...
Anybody any advise? Aparent from the obvious of getting her back to the vets? I just want to be prepared and make sure Im not shrugged off Thankyou

It does sound quite similar to SM, which I have plenty of experience with unfortunately
Do you know any of her history? I guess not with a rescue, but SM is usually genetic. If you've caught it early there are treatments they can try, some of which are very effective. I've had a mix of dogs who have responded brilliantly (once you've found a way to give them tablets successfully) and some who haven't done so well. One had brain surgery two days before he came to me, which seemed to give him some relief. He only lived for 8 months after that, though...
It will be important to make sure she has somewhere to go when she is in pain, so she feels secure. Is she crate trained? Does she have a bed she is left alone in? That should stop her snapping at your son. She should go through good periods and bad, but hopefully the good will far outweigh the bad.
Do you mind me asking if she is insured?0 -
Yes we have insured her with more than, theres no history at all for her, she has papers but appears to have recieved no vet treatment other than her boosters when she was tiny. She's a lovely dog, she isnt doing any of that jumping around stuff but she does rub her face around the floor, not all the time but still..0

That's really good. If it is SM, this should mean it's early on, and should be easy to control. Have you ruled out other factors? (Allergies/irritations, etc?) It could be that it's nothing. I was always told it was helpful to record the events, so if you could record her rubbing her face and take it to the vets so they get a better idea of what exactly she is doing, it might be easier to diagnose conclusively.
Otherwise I'd try and keep her calm and take her to the vets as soon as you can. There tends to be some trial and error involved in getting treatments right. I'm glad she's insured, it can be expensive otherwise!
I really hope she is okay. Keep us informed, if you don't mind, I'll cross my fingers for her.0
