Excuse my ignorance on this subject. I'm just picking it up as I go along.
I want to register a domain and then link/redirect it to my free pages from my ISP without paying for hosting. Is this possible?

Yes in theory. You need to know the DNS address of your free hosted site.
Frankly, however, a free hosting service is not seen a professional so, if that matters, you should consider using someone like Betterwebspace at just £10 a year.

I hasten to add that I use them myself for hosting but I'm NOT a reseller and I'm NOT on commission. You can see one of my sites here:

Thanks. At this point, professional doesn't matter but I'll keep that site in mind incase it does matter at any point!OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090

I should add that the other advantage of spending £10 a year is that you get (if you want) unlimited email addresses based on your domain, autoresponders (set up automatic holiday replies or whatever), mailing list, your own forum (like this one), the ability to see your web site statistics (how many people looked at what pages and when), the ability to block specific IP addresses from viewing your site, the ability to password-protect folders (let only your friends see certain pages) and several more features. It uses a "C-Panel" front end which makes everything really easy to set up.0

It is actually possible to use what's called "web forwarding" to do this. So if you have free webspace, such as mystuff.myISP.co.uk, you could register a domain like www.mydomain.co.uk that forwards to your ISP when typed into the browser address bar.
I've done this myself in the past, using www.123-reg.co.ukOf course, I may just be talking b****cks!0
