My understanding is that a partial settlement means that the original creditor is happy. However they can sell on the remaining balance.
As for the default, I think it transfers when an account is also sold on. It's just that you can't have 2 defaults for the same account at once.

Unless someone else corrects me, unfortunately I think what has happened is right :( sorry

but if it falls off altogether one month, can it be put back on by a different company a month later?

No, because technically it should not have fallen off in the first place before the 6 years.

I'd still want proof it was sold on and why if they were happy.

The original date of default can't change though.

This is exactly why you need to SAR cap1.

I'd also send the prove it letter to the dca.

Dca's are lying scumbag low life's at best and are known to chase debts to which they have no entitlement and rely on the debtors ignorance to collect.

I don't really think this can go any further until you sar them and get back to us, as this is becoming guesswork and we need facts to help you...;)

Yes get proof its been sold on. However the debt didn't just fall off i.e pass 6 years.
It transfered owners. The original creditor will have cleaned its record off the file and the new creditor added theirs on. Its not like the 2 companies would have syncronised credit file changes.

In any case as you state the default date cannot change, otherwise a debt from 50 years ago could be continually sold on and hurt people for ever. So check the default dates?

    No problem,

Please do as advised and keep the thread updated so we can help.

Many people (including me) will either bow out, or just not bother to reply to a thread anymore, as the op either ignores advice or does not update the thread....;)

    Good luck....
