Pipex/Ex-husband cancellation

I tried to tell Pipex that my name should be on the contract and not my ex-husband's and have given up. My ex-husband said he has given them my bank details but was unable to change the name to mine. I am so fed up with Pipex that I have contacted Plusnet and asked them to be my landline provider (they already supply the broadband and the transfer to my name was seamless). But now I am worried that Pipex will say that I need to pay a cancellation fee. I have never authorised them to do anything as my ex-husband did it all, and although he said he has given them my bank details, nothing has come out of the account so far. Does anyone know if I will be liable? And how on earth would I know as everything is addressed to my ex-husband and redirected by the post office?

I think it's your ex's problem. It's his account and they won't change it to your name. IMO your on a winner :)

If you don't want to be responsible for the bills I assume that you stopped using the phone as soon as your husband left?

I DO want to be responsible for the bill, but my ex told me that I just had to let them know I authorised for his name to be removed. When I tried, I got nowhere because Pipiex is so difficult to contact. My ex passed over my account details without asking me whether that was OK, or giving me any details about what he may have agreed with them.
