Reclaiming overpaid deposit after VT of PCP
All,
A bit of an embarrassing one this, but here goes....
In another thread I've just posted I explain how we have VT'd our Merc and are now disputing repairs owed.
Having studied the paperwork (2.5 years on, I know, not clever) I notice that the invoice states we paid £3910 as a deposit. However, I have an EFTPOS receipt showing on the day of collection we paid £4000, and I have a credit card statement showing we paid £1000 when we first reserved the car. The remainder of the car's price was put on PCP.
The purchase price of the car was £20850. Therefore, finance should have been based on £15850, but was in fact based on £16940 (as per the 3910 deposit they stated in the paperwork
Is there a time limit on highlighting the error they have made and claiming the money back?
Other than being more careful in the future, what should I do to reclaim the £1090 difference? Can they just write it off as us "paying more of the finance than we thought at time of termination"?
I know I should have seen this at the time, and no, I dont know how I missed it!
