Under 25 - proving independence to Student Finance

Hi, question for my OH.
From Sep 2008, he was travelling for approx 9 months, then moved back home (in full time work) until November 2009 since then he's lived with parents and me part-time.
This year, we'll have our own flat, and next summer we get married.
What is the likelyhood of him being able to prove financial independence this year if he applies to uni?
Will it be easier to prove next year?

He just has to prove that he's been supporting himself on his own earnings, so if he has a P60 from 2009, 2010 and 2011 that demonstrate this that should be enough.
It doesn't matter where you live.
Edit. He has to have been self supporting for three years. It doesn't actually matter if he paid rent to his parents or not, they don't ask for proof of that.0 -
So, what was his income?
How much did he contribute to the household? Can he prove this?
I assume he begins this coming September, so when did he begin work?0 -
Income was about 11k each year. He contributed but no proof - we've been saving our deposit so it's been small. He was working from April 09 - April 11, but also worked prior to travelling (before the three year cutoff). No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

How was he funding his travelling?0

MrsManda beat me to it. At present, I'm cautious as to say yes it should be fine, because there's still a few bits need clearing up.0

As long as he can provide proof of earnings for 3 years at more than £7.5k he'll be fine.0

My sister applied through SAAS for a young students bursary and was awarded an independants student bursary as they checked her NI record and she'll have been 3 years in employment when her course commences. Not sure if this would happen in England.0

Bit different for England, however the £7.5k figure quoted in this thread is a load of nonsense. You need to prove you supported yourself from your earnings, and everyone is unique.0

I'm pretty sure a letter from Student Finance quoting £7.5k is not nonsense.
I'm in a similar situation, didnt send enough evidence to support my claim as I could only account for about £6.5k in one of the years and they wrote back saying that they use a £7.5k per year income as a guideline.
Managed to get enough evidence to support I had earnt over that for 3 years, now get the full grant and loan.
So, like I said... £7.5k is a guideline as this is deemed a figure that is self supporting per year..0
