standard wall fan or extraction hood

hi, what does everyone have, im re-doing my kitchen and im not sure if it would be better to fit a standard wall fan or a cooker hood, i have had one of these before and it was so loud i never used it.

Good cooker hood, extracting directly outside so not recirculating.
Kind of fixes the position of your cooker, but if you're re-designing the kitchen anyway, that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Ours is a Rangemaster hood and has filters which can be put in the dishwasher, so no extra cost there and they do catch quite a bit of grease.
