Travel Speakers

My brother's just asked me for a pair of travel speakers for his Ipod for his birthday. Although he says he wants them for his Ipod I'm thinking that it would be useful if they could have the input for his laptop or his phone. The brief I've been given is pretty vague "reasonable priced and compact preferably with decent sound". I would also say they should be hard wearing as he travels quite a bit.
Any suggestions, or where do I start. Thanks for any advice.

Something like these.

Quite impressive given their small size.
PC World flog them, so you can at least listen to them before you buy so long as you take a music source with you that has a 3.5mm stereo jack socket.

PS
They are available in more than one colour.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
I looked into this about 5 months ago for my daughter. I ended up buying these:

Key decider was that it has a rechargable battery so you can run from both mains and be portable with the battery. Also includes a radio. They're a reasonably compact size and give good quality sound for their size. Have bought a previous version of this a few years ago for my other daughter and she's been very happy with them.Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.0 -
My daughter who has just gone back to Oz see the mini speaker i use for mobile and laptop and ordered the same from Amazon .Excellent sound ,cheap and small but good quality And you can link 2 together.

Thanks for all the ideas. He's now decided that he'd also prefer them to run off batteries rather than re-chargable. He travels to places where there's dodgy power supplies and he figures that he could just take a couple of spare sets of batteries instead of worrying about remembering to charge the speakers. I've found these that look ok to me but can anyone recommend any alternatives.

Currently £7.99 with HMV (I bought them for £13.99 at Play). Bonus is that they charge up you iPod! Mains or battery (I tend to tak an adapter and use the mains where possible). Decent sound if you just want to hear your music/podcasts in a hotel room/apartment - not good enough for a party! They're great for the money.¿Alguien ha visto a mi nave espacial?
Biting is excellent. It's like kissing, only there's a winner.0
