cheque question-no name on cheque

I sold something on ebay and the buyer paid by cheque, only problem is that the cheque doesn't have a name on it so i'm just wondering if the bank will accept it?

  • Just write your own name on it.
I have a friend for whom I would make credit card purcahses for, he would always write me a cheque and leave the name blank for me to fill in the blank so I could either pay it into my bank or off my credit card when the statement came in.

yea its illegal but what harm is it!!

Often people put your user name!! Dont ask me why!! Your bank shouldnt take it but mine often dont realise so if someone does put the wrong name on it I always at least see if the bank dont notice first before asking the customer to send a correct one.

the "pay.." line has the amount to pay rather than my name, so there's no space to write my name on it.

Anyway, I took it to the bank and they didn't say anything so i'll just wait and see how it goes. I assume after 5 days it should be ok to post the item?

Its a favour when they dont notice but you cant help but get annoyed that your bank fails to see glaring mistakes that could be fraudulant activity.
