London Charity Shops...

Hi,

I've just moved to London. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good charity shops.

I live in South London but travel all over the place so location isn't really an issue.

Got to love a bargain! :)

Thanks guys and girls.

In Camden Town there is a string of about 8 all next to each other. If you come out of Camden Town tube and go south - I think it is Camden High St. I used to get most of my clothes from there when I lived in London- I still wear a jacket I got for £3 from there 9 years ago! HTH

If you do go Camden charity shopping, newinlondon, (Camden's definitely good fun for a wander around- check out the Stables market too) then I'd recommend making a day of it and heading up to Kentish Town/Archway as well- lots of charity shops along that road (or there was when I lived there, a couple of years ago). I seem to remember there being a good selection in Crouch End too, and some interesting ones on the road towards Highgate Village. There's some great areas to explore round there anyway (well, maybe less so in Archway!), so definitely worth a trip. The Holloway Road weekend car boot sale is good too- small, but with a good mix of sellers, lots of bargains to be had, and a great selection of local characters.

If you want some upmarket/designer bargains (though still be prepared to pay more than the average charity shop), then there are a surprising number in Kensington and Chelsea (can't remember the streets though, I'm afraid). There's also some more cheap and cheerful chazzas around Paddington Station area worth checking out.
  • Brilliant.

Thanks to the both of you, I'll go check out all of these places.

    Cheers :)

Not really charity shops but there are quite a few vintage shops on Brick Lane (get off at liverpool Street Station) such as Beyond Retro and Rokit, they do have some cheaper stuff just got to hunt around.
