euro account

I've been given some Euros (just over 500 Euros) as a present by a relative who lives abroad, and I would like to pay it into a euro account.
As I go abroad very often it seems silly to have to exchange it twice and pay two lots of commission/fees, while I could use the money when I travel).
The accounts I looked at (e.g. citybank) seem to operate only online, but how do I pay in my cash?
Does anyone know of an account that accepts cash?

Citibank would almost certainly accept your Euros but you'd need to go to one of their few branches - http://www.citibank.co.uk/personal/banking/info/contactus/branches/index.htm?merchant=citi.springer211 wrote: »The accounts I looked at (e.g. citybank) seem to operate only online, but how do I pay in my cash?

I have just opened one with bankofcyprusDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Bank of Cyprus charge 2% for depositing or withdrawing euro notes, plus €11 a quarter account maintenance fee.

If all the OP expects to do is deposit €500, a bank account seems rather an overkill. Unless the relative would open a basic joint account with the OP in the relative's country, which comes with a debit card the OP can use? This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
