I'm sure she'll be getting my kids presents, so what should I get for her? She's in her late 60's.
I don't know her very well - but want to avoid chocs/biccies/alcohol as she's doesn't eat or drink those. i've thought about sending flowers, but they are so overpriced.
any suggestions?

You could get a local florist to deliver cheaper than Interflora etc if you want to send flowers.0

If flowers are going to work out too expensive, what about a plant? You could go to your local garden centre and choose something gorgeous and festive looking. It would be much cheaper than a bunch of flowers, and you can get them in lovely pots, or decorate a plain pot yourself with ribbon etc."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Being a lady of 'A certain age' well almost , I always appreciate a book... not a romantic novel but a good read.....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Yes, a book would be a good idea, especially if you can find out what sort of thing she likes. My Mum isn't a big reader, but loves flicking through things like gardening books/craft books/travel books/recipe books etc."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

I always get my dads girlfriend bath stuff. I am not at all close to her and I think flowers would be slightly over the top.
If you are doing the same as me and just want to give a gift as a kind of genture then bath stuff goes down well!Lydia

Candles are another thing which always look decorative and are a good (cheap!) present, even if they never get lit! My local Poundshop do a great range.0

Flowers....well, they look cheap enough in Tesco!
I've ordered flowers from Charity Flowers of Guernsey, a special seasonal bouquet for each of the stepdaughters/daughters-in-law. https://www.charityflowers.co.uk
Not plugging Tesco, but they do a lovely bouquet delivered as well!
I don't think you can beat flowers for any woman of any age or on any occasion.

a nice gesture is all i'm after, off to search for bath stuff and/or candles on the boots board. guess my is too one-track, all i could think of was chocs or wine! (so guess what the other rellies i can't think of anything for are getting....)0 -
i agree, flowers are great for a woman of any age - anyone want to send me some? - but meant delivered flowers (especially around Xmas ) are very dear, and if i just bought a bunch i'm not sure when i'd see her as she's not spending Xmas day with us. really need something that can either be posted, or sent up with her boyfriend.....ooh feels wierd calling my father that!0
