Am I imagining things or were A&L offering a high interest, around 7% - 8%, online savings account last week? I've just checked with the moneysupermaket site though and they're now offering 5.35%
I'm now wondering whether it's worth my while chasing them up as I applied for this account over a week ago and recieved an email saying they needed further info and would write to me within 5 days. I've not received anything since. I've a feeling it was a standard fob-off email as it asks you to call an 0870 number if you don't receive the letter and you can't reply to the email. I tried to email them using a contact email from their website but that bounced back saying mailbox was full!!! I guess they only want you to call 0870
As a complete contrast, I also applied to Coventry BS the same day for their Family 1st account and received all the paperwork the following day, which I promptly signed and returned with all my ID stuff and cheque. The account is now up and running and they returned my ID papers and sent me brand new cash cards within the week! What a great service!

Have heard of the HSBC regular saver account offering 8% but that's about it - have you seen this on the A&L website or something? It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0

It came up as the top savings account on the moneysupermarket site when I was looking for something with a decent rate of interest. I know it must have been offering more than the current 5.35% to have bothered applying for it, as that is what Coventry are giving for any deposits on top of Child Credits in their account, which I applied for the same day to have my child benefit paid into.
It also beat the Halifax savings account, which are offering something like 7% for regular savers, so now I'm confused and wondering if they've changed their offer. There's no point me chasing them up for the 5.35% as I'll get that with Coventry BS anyway."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Has been 5.35% for quite a while. Not aware of any account with A&L offering 7%.0

Maybe I've got confused with the Halifax deal then ... not unusual for me!
