£3000 to hack of plaster and put on new plaster board - Is this reasonable?

Hi,
I have been quoted £3,000 to hack of the old crumbling plaster on the walls and ceiling so that brick work is exposed. The brickwork will then be sealed to take dry wall adhesive so that plaster boards can and will be joined onto the brickwork. Note that this does not include skimming over the plaster board.
This will be in a 3 bed semi detached house, and will be done throughout the house i.e. all bedrooms, landing, hallway, living room and dining room, all ceilings throughout.
Is £3,000 a reasonable price?
Thanks

it doesnt sound too bad to me. although im still getting in quotes for my work
my house is a 3 bed terrace and ive just been quoted 8.5k! for complete re-plaster and skim as well as 8 soundproof boards to fix to the party wall.
why didnt they include the cost of skimming? and also you could knock the plaster off yourself, not too much hard work if the plaster has come away, that's what i did.0 -
Get at least 2 more quotes OPmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
get some more quotes but that doesnt sound like a too bad price, as said any work you could do yourself prior will help save costsnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

They were just going to skim over the old plaster, so I already had a quote for that. But once the wallpaper was removed we found out the old plaster was crumbling away and wasn't in a good enough state to just skim over it.0 -

Id bite their hand off at that price, thats a lot of work
Are they pulling down the (Plaster/lath?) ceilings and reboarding or just putting in a dropped ceiling and leaving the old ceilings underneath?0 -

They will pull down the old plaster ceilings and reboard them. They won't drop the ceilings - I've made sure of that because I don't want lower ceilings.0 -
thats a very good price, thats a fair bit of work involved. have you seen previous work of theres?Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0
