As a midwife, just to echo what the maccas said above. It's regretable that this has happened. I also have been on the experiencing end as I had a shoulder dystocia with DD1, and things really do have to move quickly in a situation such as this. However, considering the type of delivery that you have had, an experienced paed. should have checked your baby - I would ask for an appointment with the supervisor of midwives in your area, so that you can highlight your issues with her - she will take you seriously - it is her role to uphold public protection during the provision of care.
Also to bear in mind is management for future deliveries - I was offered either induction at 38 weeks or section with my second child (I chose the former, as wanted to avoid section at all costs!)
Unfortunately there is no way of managing demand on labour ward (other than delaying inductions) due to the nature of the service provided, which often means that there are more labourers than midwives. I have known it go from havong no patients to 8 in a matter of 15 minutes.
Hope you manage to resolve some of the issues - this is where a good de-breifing service is required from midwives to ensure questions like this are addressed.
Hope this helps.0
