New water main for £500 - Is this reasonable?

Hi,
My current water main is made out of lead and I have had a quote from a builder to get this replaced at a cost of £500.
This includes the cost of digging out a trench for the new water main and a new on/of valve. All this will be done within my house boundary, as the water board will sort out the pipework outside the boundary.
Does this price seem reasonable?

Depends on the length of your run. If the house is right on the street, I would say it is fair to slightly expensive, depending on where you are in the country.. But if there is any length to it, it looks good.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. i had a new water meter out on recently and i asked if i should change the lead pipe and he said not to bother as the majority of homes still has the lead pipe to the meter.
what do you think?0 -

I'd still like to replace the old lead pipe because I think the diameter is 15mm, whereas new requirements mean the new pipe should be wider at 25mm. This will also help improve water flow rate, and so showers will be a bit more powerful.0 -
For me this would be:-
£25 delivery for digger (all + VAT)
£30/hour for digger (1 - 2 hours)
£25 for uplift of digger
£25 for pipe
£15 for connectors.
This is what it would cost me using an agricultural contractor.
If digging by hand probably a 1+ days work for two men.0
