I'm off to Spain on Thursday for 4 days & really want to use the internet/skype when I'm there - what's the best way to do it so I don't run up huge bills?
I assume if I get a UK dongle the cost of using in Spain will be really high??

My hotel doesn't have wifi & internet cafes are not exactly great for talking to my kids etc. Plus there might not be one near my hotel. Id rather have the internet on 'tap' using my laptop
Any advice on Spanish dongles? Can I get a PAYG dongle there or something like that??0 -
you might find the hotel next door has wifi......0

You have left it a bit late. Orange in Spain have this modem for 29 euros. You get 250 MB per day for 3 euros per day.
There is also MoviStar, Vodafone and Yoigo/Telstar.
You need to check their coverage maps and shop locations. Let me know if you need help.0 -
How did we every cope going away for a few days without internet access?
Odd that your hotel doesn't have WiFi. I can't remember that the place I stopped which didn't (even if they did charge a fortune for it)
I wouldn't have thought that a PAYG dongle would be worth it for just a few days unless you are going to be in Spain regularly. If you are in a fairly touristy are there should be loads of cafe/bars with free WiFi.0 -

If you already have your own modem, you can, with the aid of an adapter, use the Orange Micro SIM. Cost: 20 euros and comes with 20 euros of credit. Same 3.50 euros per day for 250 MB per day(slows to 64kbps once you've reached the limit).
If you don't have a modem, you can buy this one for £14.
That way you will have one you can use worldwide, not only in Spain.0 -

Honestly - I've not been anywhere for years without wifi either but I think I'll be lucky if my hotel has a flushing toilet! It's soooo not my choice, girls weekend 20+ off us - you get the drift lol
I'm thinking I might need the internet to book another hotel or a flight home 5 mins after I arrive!!
It's a tourist resort - we are near lots of hotels/bars/the beach etc.
Think it will be worth me taking my little notebook hoping for wifi when i get there then???0 -

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks

Spain seems pretty advanced for WiFi and hotspots in cafes in main towns, have travelled there a lot.
Those modems seem good value though and would be great if there was no wifi close by0
