Are you sure your not a buddhist monk, lynzpower? anyone with the mind to carry out such self sacrifice at this time of year is clearly either very driven ecclesiastically, or bonkers.
Maybe even just a little of both!:D
Personally you couldn't get me near the cold shower anytime of year, with or without the sauna.I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -
I think grey hair can be very ageing.
I have a friend, Kim, who has a sister who is a year older. I had no idea how old or young Kim was, never thought about it - until I met her sister. I was really shocked at how old the sister looked in comparison to Kim, and I couldn't believe there was only a year beetween them.
I asked her about her hair, and she said that as soon as she had her first grey hair, she got her hair dyed to her natural colour. I couldn't believe the difference it makes.
Fast forward a few years, and the sister has divorced and remarried, and now colours her hair...she looks absolutely fabulous.
As soon as I got my first greys ( a couple of years ago now), I started having highlights to cover them, and I intend to carry on doing so.
The trick is making sure you use an appropriate colour/highlight for the age of your skin. Paraphrasing what Culpepper has already said, you need to tone it down as you get older, and sticking with what suited you when you were younger is very ageing in itself.0 -
Thanks for all your replies. I've just done a lot of reading.
Valentina2 I have never approached Clinique but will do next time I go shopping.
mikeywills I love your idea of a cheap mud wrap, but fear it will involve cosmetic surgery afterwards. So thanks, but no thanks :rotfl:
Pink-winged I have just read and copied some of the ideas in the older threads. I tried to do a search, but as I wasn't quite sure what to look for, couldn't find anything. Those threads are great.
unixgirluk I already splash my face with cold water (I love it!) but forgot about teabags for the eyes - and since I drink green tea, that must be extra healthy. Will try it our tonight.
As for your suggestion about the shopping trip: guess what DD and me will be doing soon??? It's a brilliant idea.
dniester007 Glad, I'm not the only one.I thought the presenter looked better, too, although the fleece could have been a bit smaller for her.
Mr Proctalgia You made my day :j
Quasar I used to do facial exercises, don't actually know why I stopped. Just off to look for the piece of paper I had.
Lynzpower I can hack 3 1/2 sec under the cold shower
I think once I've followed all those tips I will look 30 years younger - oh noooooo, I will look like a teenager again :doh:He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Tanith, mine is mousey hair dyed mousey light brown. I have a strong streak of grey hair and I'm finding it harder & harder to cover it up. What I thought - and can anyone help me here - do they make such a thing - is that I'd dye the lot grey and let the grey grow through it.0

What a cracking idea there are those that look more distinguished grey, so how about trying one of these.

They do silverlook and white semi permanent colors, they do have to go on bleached hair first though.I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -
Mouseymousey I had the exact same thought, but I have so far asked two hairdressers and they both said it couldn't be done, even though I am sure I have seen several young girls on tv and in the street with silver grey hair which looks too perfect to be natural... Someone out there is keeping a secret I believe....
If it were possible it would be a dream come true to get rid of this bleached mop and have a head of silver hair..... I could just cut it really really short but my daughters both agree with me that I do not suit short hair... OH WELL BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD:rotfl:#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

There is a "Grey Hair" dye that equalises various colours of hair to a grey/silver colour that is marketed at blokes. (DON'T ASK)
It does/did work for me - It has been a few years since I had any colour at all but I think it was l'oreal. But all I can definately remember was that it came from Wilko's
