i have a motability car and it has no adaptations at the moment, i need to get a steering ball as im having trouble with my hand and shoulder. i was wondering do i have to get one through motability or get permission to put it on or anything. i had one on my old car and it nipped the steering wheel material so dont want to get into trouble if it dammages it.

Why don't you just call Motability and ask them?"Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0

Probably because they were closed at 11.37pm when the op thought about it0 -

Lol so a call in the morning now then :-)
I wouldn't do anything to a Motability car without checking with them and even if a stranger says sure that's fine I'd still be checking with them to make sure anyway. It's only a call and they're lovely and always very helpful every time I've rung them."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
You can have any reasonable adaptations on the vehicle and this includes steering balls or straps and they are going to leave some impression on the steering wheel as they have to be tight enough to avoid them moving when trying to turn the wheel.
The ex had one on her motability vehicle many years ago without any problems when it was returned at the end of the contract.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
I don't have a motability car, but have been thinking about getting a steering ball - any clues where I can get one from? I tried Halfords but they didn't have one - or have a clue where I could get one.
(If it helps, the car is a 54 plated Peugeot 206)We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

We have tried two of these - one sticks out and fouls the knee, the other (TYPE R) has no projections and is ideal.0 -
When I was assessed for adaptions, I was given a list of adaptors who are approved by the 'Forum of Mobility Centres', but my list is only for the south east. But on the 'Forum of Mobility Centres' website it lists the following company as being one to contact:
Mobility Service, Living (dlc)
The Vassall Centre
Gill Avenue
Fishponds
Bristol
BS16 2QQ
Tel: 011796 59353
Could do worse than give them a call and see which ones they can supply to give you the control you need0
