Emigrate, Ideas Please

I am looking to possibly emigrating in few years. Any suggestions of where is best to look into. I would like to not be as far as austrailia but want warm in the winter.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Eastern canada, quebec or ontario have always appealed to me, the climate is not as harsh as many think especially in toronto.

I personally wouldn't go to the US.

New zealand is another popular choice?

The south of France is quite nice and not too far away. You should be able to learn the lingo by the time you want to go.

If you can't be bothered to learn another language then Cyprus would be worth considering.

I think New Zealand is further than Australia.....and it does get cold!

Southern France or Spain don't have bad winters and the visa wouldn't be a problem.

Cyprus is one idea we had already.
Anyone got any comments on Cyprus. Pros and Cons?

Spain would be my first choice, but that's just because I love Marbella!

I wouldn't pick Australia or New Zealand right now, since the exchange rate is so bad and property prices so high that your pounds wouldn't go very far. I'm in a cheap and small 1 bed flat in Australia, it's worth 1 1/2 of my mothers three bedroomed house with a corner garden in England.

Turkey's nice. Cost of living is low, property outside of tourist areas is cheap. Weather is great 11 months of the year, chilly for 1.

The only con I can think of is that you are pretty much reliant on air travel to get back. At the moment, driving home is a long, drawn out and expensive alternative. Houses aren't particularly cheap either.

Maybe another thing to stir into the pot is cost of health care wherever you decide to go.

And if you're planning on working wherever you settle - what sort of jobs can you do/would be willing to do and what's the employment situation there i.e. would you be able to get a job.

It's fine choosing a country that you'd like to live in but there are other practical things to consider.

    Good luck.
