Alternative to Microsoft Excel?

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if there is any alternative to Microsoft Excel i.e something free that I can download?

I need something to record data on my earnings.

For "improved" read "a fork off of" , but time will time that improved is the correct adjective.
