What Finish for Floorboards?

The floorbaords in our new house are in great condition and only need a light sand, but what would anyone recommend to finish/seal them?

I want a matt or satin finish, not gloss, are any of the varnishes in the DIY stores any good, as they range in price from £8.99 - £25.99 for a clear 2.5L Tin, or is there a certain product I should try and get?

Did mine recently had the same problem in choosing. In the end went for Osmo Polyx Oil and love it.

Used the satin finish and by putting an extra coat on have achived a lovely shine.

Its been down for about 1yr now and still looking as good as the day it was done.

My main reason for choosing the wax over a varnish type product was the lapping problem you get with varnish ect if you ever need to repair/touch up and area.

Best place I found to get it was
    http://www.agwoodcare.co.uk/list_products.php?manufacturer=Osmo&page=1
but check around you might find it cheaper.

P.S. the wax brings out the natrual colour/richness of the wood which the water based varnishes don't.
  • as ABN said Osmo an excellent finish and eco friendly as well if you go to stockist list on https://www.osmouk.com and type in your postcode will give you your nearest stockist
