Oh Ruth, have you rummaged through all of your coat pockets, handbags, wardrobes and drawers for loose change? If no joy there, there's always this...

(If you can get to south-east London, I'll cook you some dinner tomorrow. We love dogs too!)

Hope you manage to sort something out. :)

Alas, yes. Apart from some washing-machine powder. Probably best not to eat THAT though. Odd how appetising dog-food looks when one's hungry... I did once resort to chomping the dog-biscuits - but it's not something I care to repeat.

Sunday lunch at my parents, though, so I can probably make do without until then. Just worried mostly as I need to pick up a prescription this week (for me), but I think I can persuade my mum to lend me the money for that. I just feel so terribly guilty that I'm struggling so much and am hungry when there are others far worse-off than me.

Bl**dy Onepoll! It took me six months to earn that £40 - and now I have to wait for their payment!

I foresee a frenzied day of housework tomorrow - to take my mind off the hunger and the lack of funds... :(

Sweetie please go & get a food parcel.

As has been suggested, ask for a food parcel and repay by making a donation back when you can afford it. You won't be depriving anyone of anything - more a brief loan of some food!

THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH - to everyone who has sent advice and support in such a short time. Jasper and I are overwhelmed! I don't know how to thank you all. Big dinner and get-together when I'm once-more solvent...? ;)

I did have my tuna sandwich today, so I guess I am REALLY worried about the next week or two if Onepoll drag their heels. The most frustrating thing is that, in just two weeks, I will reach payday and I also have this £40 coming. It's like torture - KNOWING that this is coming and yet being so desperate for the basics.

But I have SO much to be very thankful for. Just the replies received here - as well as the affectionate company of Jasper and my continued employment.

Thank you. These words seem so inadequate - but they are heartfully and gratefully expressed. Bless you all. xxx

That's so kind of you. Bless you. But there are so many others less-fortunate than me, and I couldn't involve you in any hassle.
You are so lovely, and I thank you SO much.

If everyone was as nice as the folk who've replied to me this evening then what a wonderful world this would be. :)

Thank you again CH27; you're lovely. xx

Do you have a local credit union who may be able to help?
Does your employer have a benevolent fund?
I assume they will have~they will be able to offer you assistance.
