The insurance will be included in the hire agreement.0

Thanks, but I've heard of people being asked to provide evidence of car insurance at the car hire desk...0

Only if your hiring it using your own insurance to save money. Do you have a UK or US licence?
That may affect the price.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I think this is common practise in the USA - supply your own insurance with lower excess etc rather than using the company's own.
Not so common in the UK and only really used by corporate clients.0 -
The OP is talking about long term car hire, which may have different terms to the more common short term car hire. I was looking into this recently and found that most firms offering long term car hire either don't include insurance at all, or offer it optionally at extra charge. Unless it's extortionately expensive and easy to find elsewhere, I would buy it included from the car hire firm to keep things simple.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Are there any "long term hire" offerings like you describe for a 20 year old?
Need a car for 8 weeks, currently looking at buying a shed though.0 -
We are expats living in the US. My wife will be returning to the UK over the summer for 6 weeks or so. We need to get a hire car. We have no UK car insurance. What are our options for long term hire car and insurance for it?
For the car hire all the big companies will do it but it won't be cheap. I'd look at smaller companies in the area where you'll be based and see if they might do you a deal. Or something like this.
For the insurance you could look at http://www.insurance4carhire.com to see if you can get their cover to top up basic cover provided by the hire company - not sure if you can do it if you're not a UK resident and their standard policies limit you to 31 days at a time but maybe if you ring them they might be able to come up with something suitable.0
