Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say we exchanged contracts on our sale and purchase today
It's been rather frantic this week - if you've read my thread about one of the couples in our chain having lost all their documentation in a fire at their solicitors you'll understand! It's been a typical Friday 13th with stuff going wrong, so hopefully that's not a bad omen for our move.............I wouldn't have chosen to exchange today, but it had to be done!
We were originally due to exchange earlier this week with completion set for Monday 16th, but the fire put paid to that. Then today we heard that the solicitor for the FTBs at the start of the chain was off today so again exchange looked unlikely for today. Next we were reminded that someone in the chain had holidays booked for 21st May so the new completion date couldn't be till 31st, but finally they agreed to postpone the start of their hols and everyone agreed that completion could go ahead on Monday 23rd - hurrah :T
At least now we've slightly longer than originally planned to get the rest of our packing done..........and a celebratory drinkiepoo is on the agenda tonight - if I haven't packed all the wine glasses, that is!

When do you complete?
Thanks Seanymph
We complete on Monday 23rd May, so only one week after the date originally proposed. It hasn't actually sunk in yet as earlier this week we feared the whole chain would fall apart, so this is wonderful news!!!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

It's a great feeling when the dust settles and that happens. Good luck with your move and you best get packing :beer:0

Thanks guys

We've done quite a lot of the packing, but our current house is quite large and we have a humungous amount of stuff..........even after getting rid of things on Ebay, at carboots and charity shops plus several dump runs we still have masses! It doesn't help that our son and his g/f brought loads of their things here last year when they graduated from uni and it's only now after a delayed gap year that they are getting organised with getting a flat of their own, so we have to separate their stuff from ours and move that independently. Today I'm taking a break from packing though and going through my 'to do' lists, making sure nothing gets forgotten. Also the reality has finally hit me that we've done it and there's no turning back now
Just wanted to wish everyone else that's selling/buying all the best with their moves
