Linking new domain name to my blog...

I found an old thread on here about doing this and I have had a go at it but when I type in my new domain name it doesn't come up with anything.
I have only just bought the domain from 123-Reg - so could it be that it takes a bit of time to set itself up? Or might I have just totally messed it up.
I was under the impression that even if I hadn't set up a website it would still come up with some kind of 'this domain is registerd with 123-reg' type page but I just get 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'

Use a whois lookup http://www.whois.net/ to see if they actually did register your domain. 123-reg are notoriously bad for taking your money and not doing anything afterwards. I know 1 or 2 people that have had to take court action (including me) to make them do things.
If they have, you might need to wait a bit of time, they need to create DNS records and if you have tried to view the domain already and failed your computer/router may have cached bad records which can take up to 12 hours to clear.Windows is the path to the darkside...Windows leads to Blue Screen.
