I think they should use some common sense and look at the housing situation in their area, and if it looks like they wont be able to get a property big enough to house them then its pretty obvious that having another child is a bad idea.
Let me re-phrase that for you.... Should families in social housing be prevented from having more children than they already have and should those who marry anyone in social housing give up any existing children?0 -

Don't believe so, no.
"so you are saying, suggesting, implying" is wildly different to ASKING someone "surely you can see.....".

Point 2. You've complained at the use of individual cases to make an argument. So you make an individual case to make an argument?
Novel.
Point 3. If they are on 15k a year total household income, extra kids are probably not that wise a move anyway. Will be a struggle enough on those wages.
I admit that like yours it's an extreme example but I think that social housing should be available to people on Low incomes whether they want to save for a house or not.
You could probable get a 2-bed terrace for £180k where I am now about 18 miles away. Do you think someone on £15k would be in a position to save for that and commute 18 miles a day?0 -

No. I don't think they would be in that position. Neither do I think that they would be in a position to have extra kids. So to me, the whole point is a mute one, as, again, in my opinion, if people are making choices on having extra kids (please note I said the choice), the first thing to do on such a wage is to try to up it, so you can actually raise the child properly, forgetting buying a house for a minute.0 -
Council houses do become vacant, people get LHA, people who can afford to move out and commute like I did and people will stay living in crowded accommodation.
Not forever though eh, like i said we live on an island, this island can only sustain so many people and at some point something will have to be done in regards to people having as many children as they want0 -

Nah, it's exactly the same.0 -

So you do think people on minimum wage should not be able to have a home and kids.0
